Avro
Vulcan B2s XL317, XL444, XL425 & XM595 of No 617 Squadron on the ORP
at RAF Cottesmore circa 1975. The yellow boxes between fingers two and
three are part of the VASI (variable approach slope indicator) installation.
Cottesmore was a former Vulcan station (the wing had moved to Akrotiri
in Cyprus) but remained a strike force dispersal airfield. The aircraft
above are at 'readyness 15' (note the pitot and static head covers are
removed) in preparation for a demonstration scramble for a royal visit.
