In-flight catering on the Vulcan was not terribly sophisticated though it was regarded by most of the crew as the co-pilot's chief responsibility. The usual procedure was to follow briefing with a pre-flight meal and to order one's in-flight rations - typically a sandwich, a Kit-Kat and a waxed carton of milk or squash. Tins of soup were available that could be heated in individual can-sized ration heaters though opening them dulled one's knife! US bases tended to be more generous with fried chicken, flavoured milk and a can of something highly processed! |
