Vulcan B2 Blue Steel XL319 of the Scampton Wing at Toronto Airport in 1965 (Canadian International Airshow). Behind the Vulcan is a Vickers Viscount of Air Canada (still in TCA colours). 319 was delivered in anti-flash white to No 617 Squadron in October 1961 complete with an in-flight refuelling probe. 319 returned to Woodford for retrofit in May 1964, returning to the Scampton Wing in July 1965. During the retrofit programme, 319 was strenthened for low-level operations and was fitted with 'A' and 'E' saddle bomb-bay fuel tanks. In January 1970, 319 was converted to the free-fall role returing to the Scampton Wing in April. © Geoff Gaukrodger |
