Avro Vulcan B1 XH499 of No 617 Squadron in 1959 at or en-route to RNZAF Ohakea. The B1 Vulcan can be distinguished from the Mk 2 by its smaller wing (less obvious from some angles), the lack of the ECM bay at the rear (though it was fitted to B1As but not to the first B2 XH533), its slight nose-up attitude on the ground, and the wing-tip pitot tubes. The other aircraft is a Douglas C-124 Globemaster II. Infomation as to the location would be appreciated. Copyright © Tony Milton. |
