Avro Vulcan B2 XM610 of the Waddington Wing at RAAF Darwin in 1969. 610 is sporting an 'elephant' badge on its fin. This badge represents No 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron and not No 27 (Scampton) that at times had a similar badge. 610 was delivered to IX Squadron at Coningsby in February 1964 and was merged into the Coningsby Wing which became the Cottesmore Wing later that year. Exchanged with the Waddington Wing in 1968, 610 crashed after an engine fire at Wingate, Co Durham in 1971. The crew bailed-out sucessfully.
