Vulcans at Woodford (Avro final assembly) photographed by Brian Jackson from a Vanguard flying into Manchester Airport in the mid-60s. Two white Vulcans are easily identified and a camouflaged Vulcan is on the run-up pan (centre). At the bottom right is a Vickers Valiant, used for Blue Steel trials but grounded with fatigue problems. But what is sticking out of the left shed? Its nose seems too stubby for a complete Vulcan and it is suggested that it is a static test specimen. Copyright © Brian Jackson. |
